Anyone can have an anxiety attack. Just because you feel like you’re in a good mental health state doesn’t mean that things will stay that way. Things around you could change, and they may affect how you think. It doesn’t mean you’re a weak person if you have an anxiety attack. It means that you have to deal with your emotions and get through that phase. It starts by understanding the reasons behind your feelings. You should take a break when you’re at the height of that emotion and drink a glass of water. You will somehow feel better when you have access to clean drinking water. It helps if you have a Big Berkey filter at home. Before you take steps to address your anxiety level, you need to know why you feel that way.
You might just be overthinking
You don’t necessarily have a huge problem. The only reason why you’re anxious is that you’re overthinking. You’re worrying about things you shouldn’t. Some of these issues are just in your mind and are non-existent. Some people tend to overthink for no reason. The key is to let go of things beyond your control and ground yourself in reality. Besides, overthinking doesn’t really get you anywhere. If you worry about a real problem, take steps to solve it. Unless you’re planning how to get through that problem, there’s no point in thinking about it.
Someone’s bothering you
Some people intentionally make our lives a living hell. They deserve to be ignored, but some make ways to insert themselves in our lives and make things challenging for us. If there’s a person who makes you feel that way, the best thing you can do is to have an honest confrontation. It doesn’t mean you will engage in a word war. You can maintain an honest and diplomatic conversation. While it doesn’t guarantee that your problem will be solved, it will make you a thousand times better to finally say your piece. Sometimes, it’s the only thing you need to be less anxious. You know that this person probably won’t stop bothering you, but it doesn’t stress you out anymore.
You have too much on your plate
There are times when we bite more than we could chew. We think that we’re capable of doing everything when we can’t. Since you’re already facing that issue, the least you can do is organize your schedule well to finish everything on time. Take one step at a time, and don’t overwhelm yourself. When you think about all these pending tasks, it’s easy to feel bad. However, when you take a step-by-step approach, you will realize that they’re manageable. Another way to prevent this problem in the future is to learn how to say no. The reason why you have too many things to deal with is that you keep accepting responsibilities. When you say no to these people, they will move on and find someone else to take the job. The world doesn’t stop just because you refused responsibility. You know your limits, and you have to stop when you’ve reached them.
You’re a people pleaser
You shouldn’t allow yourself to revolve your life around other people. Pleasing others will only increase your anxiety level. People who love you don’t need you to please them. People who hate you will continue to feel that way even if you do your best to please them. The only way for you to stop being anxious because of this reason is to avoid pleasing others. If you’re asked by someone else to do something, the goal is to accomplish that task. If you see how it helps an organization or society at large, it’s even better. Use them as motivation to do an excellent job. However, if you do it because you want to please someone, it’s not necessarily a smart move. You’re doing the right thing for the wrong reasons.
You feel pessimistic
There are plenty of reasons to feel negative, especially with what’s happening around the world right now. You worry about the future. Everyone’s health is on the line. The economy doesn’t seem to be doing well. There are tons of negative news reported worldwide. The only way to prevent this feeling is by realizing that there are things beyond your control. If you allow yourself to be brought down by these realities, you will feel anxious. Always look for the brighter side of things. There’s another side of the coin, and there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Dwelling on these negativities won’t help you in any way.
You’re not achieving your goals
When you’re at a point in your life where you feel like you’re not going anywhere, it’s easy to feel anxious. You know that you’re way behind the goals you set. When you compare yourself with others, it’s even worse. You have to realize that you’re the only one placing immense pressure on yourself. There’s no universal standard on when to achieve a goal. Some people marry at a young age, while others don’t. Some people prefer to have five kids, while others prefer not to have any child at all. Regardless of your life choices, you’re the only one who can conclude if you’re happy with them. You can’t allow any person to dictate what you should do or when you should achieve your goals in life. It would help if you didn’t compare yourself with others, either. You will feel unsatisfied if you keep thinking that you’re way behind.
There are many reasons for feeling anxious, and it’s important to know them. The only way to move forward in life and feel good again is by eliminating these negative emotions. You can do so if you try your best. You should also consult with a mental health expert if your anxiety attacks are getting worse. There’s no shame in asking for help from people who can make everything better.
