CBD is an abbreviation for Cannabidiol, a molecule found in marijuana. It’s also found in hemp, but the THC to CBD ratio is 10:1 in favor of hemp flower for sale. Marijuana has a 1:1 ratio.
This molecule can provide relief from anxiety and depression without the psychoactive high of THC. Studies find it’s been shown to help with epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and cancer treatment side effects like nausea or pain. It’s even recently been used as a form of therapy for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
How It Works
CBD is non-psychoactive. That means it’s not going to provide a head or body high. That also means the plant has no mind altering effects like anxiety or paranoia. It does, however, stimulate your endocannabinoid system which regulates bodily functions like appetite and pain when activated.
When you consume this molecule, it can work to improve the body’s natural defenses and immune systems if needed. This might be why so many people who use medical marijuana for its THC get relief from issues like inflammation, chronic pain and depression as well.
There are claims that CBD can act as a natural treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, but the evidence is conflicting.
CBD may also help with addiction or withdrawal symptoms when marijuana use is stopped. It can also help restore organ function and balance when needed.
It doesn’t cause any long term cognitive effects like memory loss, and you won’t get “high” or experience any other psychoactive effects. That said, the research of CBD is growing quickly, and we’ll keep looking for more to know what the effects are long-term.
If you do decide to take CBD oil for anxiety or depression, know that it’s not a magic bullet. You may need to try a couple different brands to find the right one, and you still might get no relief. This is because everyone is different, but it’s worth trying.
THC Vs CBD
There are over 100 compounds in marijuana plants. THC and Cannabidiol are the two main ones that appear the most often in studies. When someone refers to “cannabis” they mean marijuana with both THC and CBD while if they say “marijuana” they mean without CBD but with more THC than CBD.
If you use hemp oil which has only less than .3% THC, you won’t get high, but you’ll still feel the benefits because there will be more CBD in the oil. This is because hemp plants are very low in THC and high in CBD.
Another name for marijuana is Sativa and it’s short for Sativa L. Indica is another strain that’s short for Indica L which has a longer flowering period than Sativa. The shorter the flowering period, the higher the CBD concentration of it’s flowers as well as buds (the plant’s psychoactive part). Since Indica has been bred over time to have less THC and less CBD, it’s become more similar to marijuana. It also makes users feel tired, lazy and sometimes “couch locked.
